And it doesn't really help when you have to learn from various sources on the internet that have completely different workflows for creating 3D characters.So I want to give you an clear path to follow, so you don't need to figure it out confused & alone...Whether you're overwhelmed trying to create stylized 3D characters and not really sure how to approach it or tutorials have not done justice. Then you need mentorship, structure and accountability.During the course of the 12 weeks, I'll guide you through my proven workflow for creating stylized 3D characters ready for animation. Each week we'll focus on a new aspect of creating 3D characters & I'll guide you all the way from choosing a concept to the final poses, renders and turnaround of your stylized 3D character.After 12 weeks, you'll have...…a polished, stylized & animation ready 3D character built from the ground up - guided by me every step of the way. More importantly, you’ll have the skillset needed to create any character you can imagine with confidence and absolute clarity at all times.

The Curriculum

Here is everything we are going to cover within the 12 weeks

Week 1

Choosing A Concept

We'll start off the by choosing a strong character concept. I'll guide you on what to look out for when choosing a concept for your 3D character!

Week 2

Blocking Out a Basemesh

Next, we’ll start building your character using simple shapes. This is where we figure out the main proportions and overall structure of the character.

Week 3

Sculpting the Head

We’ll move on to sculpting the head. I'll show you the proportions you need to keep in mind, and how to shape the face, build the features, and get a solid base to work from.

Week 4

Sculpting the Body, Hands & Hair

Now we’ll work on the rest of the body, this includes the hands and hair! You’ll learn how to keep things clean, stylized, and in proportion with the rest of the sculpt.

Week 5

Sculpting & Modelling Clothes & Accessories

This week is all about clothes and any extra accessories. We’ll sculpt and model some simple outfits and accessories to bring more personality to your character.

Week 6

Intro to Retopology (Retopologizing the Face)

Time to start cleaning things up! We’ll begin retopology by focusing on the face, learning how to create clean edgeflow that deform well when animated.

Week 7

Retopologizing the Body

Next, we’ll retopologize the rest of the body. You’ll learn how to keep your mesh efficient and animation-friendly while still holding the form of your sculpt.

Week 8

Finalize Retopology + Additional Modelling & UV Unwrapping

We’ll finish up the retopology of the rest of the character, We'll also do additional modelling for the teeth, mouth, etc. and then tackle UV unwrapping to sets things up for texturing.

Week 9

Hair Grooming

We are now going to replace the sculpted hair we made earlier & take the hairstyle to the next level! I'll show you how to use Blender’s hair grooming tools to create clean and stylized hair for your character.

Week 10

Texturing & Shading the Character

Time to add textures and materials!We’ll paint the character and make simple shaders that will enhance out texturing even further.

Week 11

Rigging & Posing the Character

Next, we'll move onto rigging. how to set up an animation ready rig and how to pose your character so that we can prepare the model for a strong final presentation.

Week 12

Lighting & Making Final Renders

For the final week... all our hardwork will payoff as we light, composite, and make final rendering adjustments.We'll finish the project with clean 3D renders & turnarounds!

Class Details

All classes will be done via Google Meet and will always be recorded & uploaded so that you can keep it forever even after the mentorship program is over.Once you secure a spot for the mentorship, you'll have a portal to access all recorded classes and other resources too!FORMAT: Classes are held every Monday & Friday at 8am–11am PST *please prepare for the class to run over sometimes.This program is going to be amazing only if you have the time to fully commit. If your schedule is packed, it might be best to wait for the next one:)DURATION: 12 weeksSKILL LEVEL: Intermediate Blender Artist (If you have succesfully completed a project in Blender or followed a tutorial to the end succesfully, then you can definitely enroll too!)DISCORD: All our interactions during the mentorship program will be done via our private Discord server, where you will get to ask questions & interact with others in the program!

What You’ll Need

Determination & Strong Will *seriously lol, a Laptop or PC that is powerful enough to run Blender & good internet connection speed.Also Dedicated & allocated hours for classes and assignments.If you have a second monitor it would be easier for you to follow along during the class sessions, but it isn't as necessary.Basic knowledge of Blender, but I keep things beginner-friendly and approachable, so you will be able to follow along too regardless of skill level.

  • What if I can't see the classes live one day? - No problem! All classes are recorded and uploaded on your Gumroad Portal. These recordings will be available to you FOREVER!

  • Will I have a portfolio pices by the end of the program? - Yes! If you follow the assignments and stay engaged, you’ll complete a character design portfolio ready for industry opportunities.

  • Is this program beginner friendly? - Some knowledge of Blender is recommended, however, no previous sculpting experience is required.

  • Do I need to know anatomy to take this course? - Nope, not at all!

  • Do I need a graphics tablet for this course? - Having a graphics tablet is nice and all, but you can do the same with a mouse if you want to!

  • Which graphics tablet do I use? - I use XP pen Artist 14 Pro (Gen 2)
